Barnet suffered their first defeat of the campaign on Tuesday evening, a 3-1 defeat to Swindon Town ending the impressive undefeated run for Dean Brennan’s side.
First half strikes from Mitch Clark and a double from Aaron Drinan confirmed all three points for the visitors, despite Kabongo Tshimanga’s late effort consolation effort it proved to be a disappointing evening at The Hive.
However, it was Barnet who started bright Kabongo Tshimanga denied by an outstretched Connor Ripley in the Swindon goal.
But the Robins would pounce from the resulting corner kick – Clark breaking down the left and converting with a smart finish.
Despite trailing, Barnet would have their chances though.
Danny Collinge initially heading over, before Charlie Lakin saw his effort fizzing past the post.
Tshimanga would later threaten but again would see his efforts denied by Ripley in the Swindon goal.
The chances of the game would arrive on the half an hour mark, Tshimanga again denied by Ripley on two occasions, before a heroic save from Ripley ensured the ball cannoned onto the post and somehow denied the Bees an equaliser.
Oisin Gallager would later force Ripley into action, but it was Swindon who would further extend their lead on 35 minutes.
Drinan getting in behind and converting for the Robins second of the night.
And they would quickly extend their lead, two minutes later – pouncing on a wayward pass before Drinan drilled the ball home for his second of the evening and Swindon’s third.
HALF TIME 3-0 Â
Following the interval, it was Swindon who started bright Joe Snowdon forcing the Bees keeper into action, just three minutes after the restart.
But the chances would keep falling Barnet’s way, Idris Kanu seeing his effort palmed away, before Gallagher fired over from the edge of the box.
Jake Reeves and Tom Knowles would be introduced on the hour and would look to make a difference, the latter linking up well with Lakin only to be denied by the inspired Ripley.
It wasn’t to be all one-way traffic, Anthony Munda firing over after a weaving run.
And Barnet would grab a consolation in the 90th minute, Tshimanga knocking home for his 8th of the campaign late on.
