MATCH REPORT | BARNET 1-1 OLDHAM ATHLETIC

In what was awful conditions at The Hive, Barnet had to settle for a share of the points with Oldham Athletic in this Sky Bet League Two clash.

Kabongo Tshimanga scored his sixth goal in five games, but a red card for substitute Isiah Noel-Williams and a late goal from Mike Fondop ensured things were level come full-time.

It was Barnet who started bright, Tshimanga and Damola Ajayi combining well, only for the Spurs loanee to lose his footing at the vital moment.

Tshimanga would again be involved with Jake Reeves and Charlie Lakin this time picking out the in-form striker, but he was unable to convert from close-range.

Dean Brennan’s side would continue to threaten, Oisin Gallagher trying his luck from the edge-of-the-box only to be denied by Matthew Hudson in the Oldham goal.

Lakin would later hit the post on 19 minutes, but just 60 seconds later Barnet would lead.

A fine through ball picking out the 29-year-old who calmly converted for his 9th league strike of the campaign.

However, our visitors would have their chances.

Donervon Daniels forcing Matthew Cox into action with his awkward cross/turned shot.

Lakin would later threaten before the break, with Manny Monté doing well to head over.

And as we headed into the break, Cox would have to be on hand to deny the Latics with a fine reflex save.

HALF TIME 1-0

Following the interval attacker Tom Knowles would quickly make an instant impact, firing the ball across the box with Idris Kanu unfortunate not to meet it at the far post.

Chances would keep coming Barnets’ way, Romoney Crichlow finding Gallagher who headed over.

On 53 minutes Fondop would head wide, before Favour Fawunmi cut in and fired his effort past the post.

The moment of the half would arrive on the 64th minute, with Oldham pouncing on a defensive slip, 32-year-old Fondop, unable to convert one-on-one with Cox.

But on 70 minutes a moment would change the direction of the game.

Substitute Isiah Noel-Williams receiving red for a foul on Jamie Robson.

This would see Micky Mellon’s side pushing for the equaliser, but the Bees would stand firm.

As the rain poured, Barnet’s defensive line would stand strong until the last seconds.

Oliver Norburn’s cross met by Fondop who headed the ball home, snatching a point for his side.

Barnet are now back in action on Tuesday evening, hosting York City at the Hive, KO 7:45pm.
