The Bees exited the Isuzu FA Trophy to the hands of fellow
National League side Altrincham FC in a chilly afternoon in Cheshire.
The Bees took on the first chance of the game when Rhys
Browne shot from the edge of the box, but it went just over the crossbar.
Another chance was handed to the Bees when they were awarded
a free kick in a shooting position. Billy Clifford took but it also went over
the bar.
Altrincham’s first chance of the game came in the 15th
minute when a low-driven corner found Regan Linney inside the box who striked at
goal but found the wrong side of the post.
The first goal came in the 17th minute in the
form of Rhys Browne. A crowd of bodies in the box swiping at the ball before Browne
got the golden touch to take it past Ethan Ross in the Alty goal.
The next attack for the hosts came when Tylor Golden let fly
from range, his effort was easily collected by Owen Evans on his Barnet debut.
Regan Linney had the best chance so far for the hosts when
he fired at goal from the left-hand side of the box, but he could only see his
effort fly just wide of the post.
Golden was looking to cause problems for the Bees again when
he took a shot on from the edge of the box, his venomous effort went just wide
of the left-hand post.
Browne was back in on the action again when he slipped the
ball wide to Reece Hall-Johnson who shot at goal from inside the box, but it
went wide.
Half Time 0-1
The first chance of the second half fell to the hosts when
Jake Bickerstaff fired a half-volley high over the bar. Owen Evans was on hand
to make a great stop to deny the hosts shortly after.
The early pressure in the second half from the hosts paid
off when Tom Crawford got on the end of a low-driven cross to slot the ball into
the bottom left-hand corner.
Idris Kanu went for an audacious effort from range, but he
can only see his shot sail high over the bar.
Nicke Kabamba with some clever footwork allowed him to turn
the ball onto his right-foot before shooting at goal but his effort didn’t
trouble Ross, and it flew wide.
Alty were looking to catch the Bees on the break and came
close to taking the lead when Elliot Newby only had Evans to beat but the debut
man was equal to the effort.
The hosts took the lead with 20 minutes to go when Crawford pounced
on a loose ball in the box before lobbing the ball over Evans and into the net.
The game was all but wrapped up when the hosts caught the
Bees on the break with 5 minutes to go before Newby played the ball to the
substitute Joe Nuttall who finished the ball into an empty net.
