MATCH REPORT: AFC Wimbledon 2 – 0 Barnet

A Max Crocombe penalty save wasn’t enough to stop Barnet falling to a 2-0 defeat at Kingsmeadow.
The on-loan goalkeeper dived to stop George Francomb’s spot-kick after half an hour, following Lyle Taylor’s seventh minute opener.
Wimbledon had to wait until the final minute to double their lead – Sean Rigg scoring on the counter, with Crocombe out of his goal as Barnet searched for an equaliser.
The Dons began the game strongly, and were ahead with one of their first attacks of the match.
A Francomb pass was picked up by Taylor on the right wing; he charged into the box before firing a powerful shot just inside the far post to open the scoring.
The Bees created little in response during a quiet first period, but were slightly more lively in the second half.
Substitute Luke Gambin latched onto a poor James Shea clearance, but was unable to get a clean shot on goal with the keeper off his line.
However it was Wimbledon who secured the win, with Barnet committing men forward in the latter stages of the match.
Crocombe joined the Bees’ final attack, but was punished when Rigg put the finishing touch on a Dons breakaway goal.
In truth this was a match in which neither team excelled – Barnet will be glad to get back to The Hive, where they face Accrington Stanley next Saturday.
