MATCH PREVIEW | TRANMERE ROVERS

The Bees make the journey north to Birkenhead to face Tranmere Rovers for the first time in the league, with Dean Brennan’s side looking to extend their unbeaten run on the road to five games at Prenton Park.

Barnet:

It was back-to-back home wins for the Bees on Saturday, thanks to goals from Callum Stead and Ryan Glover in each half securing a 2-0 victory in blustery conditions over Accrington Stanley.

Defensive solidity at the back made sure of back-to-back clean sheets for Cieran Slicker who wasn’t tested much throughout the 90 minutes. Adam Senior and captain Danny Collinge put in particularly solid performances in defence, which saw the couple appear in Sky Bet League Two’s team of the week, with the former making it into the overall EFL’s pick.

Senior provided the assist for Glover’s goal and, with his defensive contributions including winning three ariel duels, four clearances and two blocks.

Tranmere Rovers:

Tomorrow’s hosts sit 18th in the league, with two wins, five draws and 3 losses to their name.

The Rovers had a strong start to their league campaign, starting their 2025/26 journey by going four unbeaten, but that form soon shifted and they have not won in the league since late August.

The Birkenhead outfit played out a high-scoring 3-3 draw in their last outing away at Bromley, where they came back from 3-1 down to share the spoils at the full-time whistle.

Kyle Cameron game Andy Woodman’s side the lead in the opening quarter of the tie, with Tranmere’s Nathan Smith levelling out the score on 27 minutes with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Former Bees’ striker Nicke Kabambe gave Bromley the upper hand again before the break, with poacher Michael Cheek extending the advantage to two goals shortly after the restart.

Rovers’ Starman Omari Patrick punished a Sam Long Error to decrease the deficit a minute later, before bringing the tie level through Cameron Norman.

Byron Webster saw red for the Ravens with 20 minutes of the game still left to play, but Tranmere were unable to find a winner and left Hayes Lane with a point.

Tranmere Rovers’ last five results:

Barrow 1-2 Tranmere Rovers (Vertu Trophy)

Bromley 3-3 Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere 0-0 Cambridge United

Walsall 4-2 Tranmere Rovers

Tranmere Rovers 1-1 Newport County

In the opposition dugout:

Tranmere are led by 52-year-old Andy Crosby, who has been in the position at the Rovers permanently since the start of the campaign, after previously taking the job on an interim basis in late February.

Crosby’s first coaching role in 2006 saw him operate as the assistant to Nigel Adkins who was caretaker manager at Scunthorpe United. Crosby went on to assist Adkins at four other clubs, including Southampton, who they took from League One to the Premier League.

The Rotherham-born coach joined Port Vale’s backroom staff towards the end of the 2020/21 season and led them to promotion through the play-offs the following year due to the absence of manager Darrell Clarke.

Crosby was appointed as manager a year later following the sacking of Clarke and despite leading the side to the EFL quarter-finals, results in the league weren’t up to scratch and he was sacked the following February.

One to watch:

Despite not having the easiest opening to the campaign, one player in particular that has stood out, is forward Omari Patrick, who’s already registered six goals an three assists in ten league appearances so far this season.

Patrick is lightning quick and good with both feet; add strength into that and he’s a nuisance for opposition defenders to have to deal with in the final third.

The Slough-born striker has recently hit 300 professional career appearances, with 73 goal contributions to accompany that.

The last time the two sides met:

This will be the first ever competitive match between the Rovers and the Bees.
