Barnet Under-18s began their Youth Alliance Cup Southern Group campaign with an impressive 2-0 victory over an in-form Northampton Town side.
Goals from Matty and Stanley secured all three points for the young Bees in their opening match of the competition.
Under-18s manager Ashleigh Hopkins said:
“I’m very pleased with today’s result, particularly after the boys produced another excellent performance against Luton Town at the weekend.
“I thought the players competed well from the start. We knew it would be a difficult game, especially in a cup competition, but we created some excellent chances and I was delighted to see Matty and Stanley find the back of the net.”
“We’ll let the boys enjoy the victory, but as a coaching team, our attention has already turned to Bristol Rovers this weekend. It will be a big test against a club with a very strong setup, and we want to carry this momentum forward.”
Barnet will also face MK Dons, Bromley and Swindon Town during the Youth Alliance Cup Southern Group stage.
