Match Preview: Tottenham Hotspur U23s (H)

The Bees return to pre-season action at the Hive London on Saturday afternoon (3:00pm), hosting Tottenham Hotspur U23’s at The Hive London.

Harry Kewell’s side have just come off the back of a resilient display against League One Oxford United, drawing 1-1 and will look to impose themselves on this fixture ahead of the new season.

FIXTURE DETAILS:

Barnet FC vs Tottenham Hotspur U23’s

Saturday, August 7th – 15:00

The Hive London

Tottenham Hotspur U23’s:

Manager: Wayne Burnett

Last Season: 3rd in Premier League 2 Division One

First Fixture: Chelsea U23’s (H) – Monday 16th August

One to watch: Jamie Bowden

Tottenham Hotspur U23’s had an impressive campaign last season, finishing third in the Premier League 2 Division One. Spurs’ U23 players will be looking to cement their place in the first team over the coming years and few are close to making that step up as a number of them have been making the bench for the cup competitions and training with the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min.

Another encouraging season is expected for the north London side and they will be testing themselves against League opposition when facing Oxford United, Cambridge United and Stevenage in the Papa John’s Trophy early in the season.

The One to Watch: Jamie Bowden

The 20-year-old is looking like a very hot prospect and is close to making the step up to the senior side after featuring off the bench for the club on several occasions. He was also part of the 19-man squad that recorded a 4-3 win over Man City in the Champions League.

The creative midfielder made his senior debut for Tottenham in a friendly against Girona in 2018 and has featured in the majority of Spurs’ U23 matches last season. Bowden is often training with the first-team and is expected to make the move into the senior side within the next season.

THE BEES:

Harry Kewell’s side return to action at The Hive London on Saturday afternoon which will give supporters an exciting opportunity to see the newly formed team in person. Pre-season is going smoothly for the Club after recording a 3-0 win over League Two Bristol Rovers as well as a 1-1 draw against Oxford United on Tuesday afternoon.

These are positive signs for the Bees who will be looking forward to getting more minutes in the tank as an exciting season ahead approaches. This is the penultimate pre-season friendly and the final one at The Hive London before the season kicks off against Notts County on the 21st of August.
