MATCH PREVIEW | HARTLEPOOL UNITED

The Bees make the second long trip this week tomorrow to face Hartlepool United at Victoria Park with kick-off at 3pm.

Barnet FC:

The Bees registered a vital three points on Wednesday evening in a freezing cold Yeovil as a late Danny Collinge goal sent the Bees back to the National League summit. The game couldn’t have got off to a better start when a Bailey Hobson shot deflected into the path of Ryan Glover who steered the ball home at the back post. The Bees had all the possession and all the chances in the first half, the Glovers would have been feeling fortunate to only go into half time just a goal down. Yeovil came out fighting in the second 45 and found the equaliser with 20 minutes to go when James Plant put the ball in from inside the box. The leveller spurred the Bees and, a well placed Hartigan cross found the head of Collinge who found the back of the net. Nick Hayes produced a world class save with seconds to go to ensure the three points were coming back to North London.

Hartlepool United

Tomorrow’s hosts have had an underwhelming season so far having picked up seven wins, seven draws and six defeats from 20 games so far leaving them in 12th position in the National League. They have however seen an upturn in form after the arrivals of former championship star men Kazenga LuaLua and Gary Madine. In their last outing they registered a 2-0 home win over struggling AFC Fylde. The first goal of the game came in the 70th minute through Tom Parkes before a late Gary Madine goal ensured the three points would remain at Victoria Park.

Yeovil Town last five results:

Hartlepool United 2-0 AFC Fylde

Solihull Moors 3-4 Hartlepool United

Hartlepool United 0-0 Eastleigh

York City 5-3 Hartlepool United

Hartlepool United 2-0 Aldershot Town

In the opposite dugout:

Hartlepool United are currently managed by former Cardiff, Grimsby and Luton boss Lennie Lawrence who has been at the Hartlepool helm since October this year. Prior to that Lawrence hadn’t managed a club as head coach since 2012 as a caretaker coach at Crystal Palace. He had taken an executive role at Hartlepool in 2022 and since taking charge of the coaching roles has overseen a run of better form.

Ones to watch:

Hartlepool have National League experienced striker Mani Dieseruvwe at their disposal, he has 9 goals to his name in the league this season putting him joint 4th in the golden boot race in the league.

Last time these two sides met:

The last time these two sides met was in March this year when the Bees ran out narrow winners at Victoria Park when two first half goals from Barnet secured the win. Gatlin O’Donkor opened the scoring after just 12 minutes before Anthony Hartigan doubled the lead on the stroke of half time. Nicky Featherstone grabbed one back in the 94th minute but this proved to be nothing but a consolation.
