Fixture Details:
Barnet vs Harrogate Town
Tuesday 18th February 2020
The Hive London
Vanarama National League
The Bees
Manager: Darren Currie
Form: LWWWW
League Position: 13th (46 points)
Top scorer: Simeon Akinola (16 goals)
The Bees will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat in 12, as they cruelly lost out to Solihull Moors last Tuesday. However, the Bees haven’t suffered defeat on home soil since Stockport County in November last year, so Currie’s side will be full of confidence heading into a big game against the Town.
Currie will be boosted by the return of new striker Paul McCallum after he missed the last match due to being ineligible to face his parent club. That means that all three strikers will be at the boss’s disposal, as Josh Walker and Simeon Akinola will look to continue their good form in front of goal.
Harrogate Town
Manager: Simon Weaver
Form: WWDLW
League Position: 2nd (59 points)
Top scorer: Jack Muldoon (11 league goals)
It’s been a whirlwind season for the Yorkshire based club and they currently sit second in the table with a firm grip on a play-off place. They are 4 points off the league leaders Barrow but have played a game more than the Bluebirds. They have played three more games than the Bees and are unbeaten on the road in 2020, they last suffered defeat away from home when they visited Boreham Wood at the back end of 2019.
The last time the Town faced the Bees they came away with the three points, as they ran out 2-1 victors. Muldoon and Smith ensured the Town raced into a 2-0 win before David Tutonda halves the arrears. The Bees dominated large parts of the second half but couldn’t get that equalising goal, despite John Stead being sent off late on.
One to watch: Jack Muldoon
The attacker is the Town’s top scorer, with 11 Vanarama National League goals to his name so far this campaign. Muldoon found the net in the reverse fixture back in November. The 30-year-old Scunthorpe born attacker has been instrumental to Harrogate’s success so far this season and will be keen to continue his fine form when he takes on the Bees this evening.
Muldoon has vast experience at this level of the game having featured for the likes of Lincoln City and AFC Fylde before joining in Harrogate in the summer of 2018. Muldoon can play anywhere along the front line and will be hoping that he can continue to fire the goals that send the visitors to the Football League for the first time.
