The Opposition:
Nickname: The Fleet
Manager: Kevin Watson
Stadium: Stonebridge Road
League Position: 23rd Position
Ebbsfleet United have struggled this season coming off the back of a positive season last year that saw them finish just outside of the play-off places in the National League. This saw manager Garry Hill dismissed from his position and Kevin Watson brought in as his replacement who has had a good start to his Fleet career.
Their last five fixtures have seen them only lose once to fellow National League side Notts County in the FA Cup. Just as recently as last Saturday, the Fleet looked to have secured all three points until Sam Walker’s 93rd minute goal snatched away the win at the death.
The away side may have an injury problem going into the fixture on Tuesday night with a number of personnel possibly still unavailable to Watson.
The Gaffer: Kevin Watson
Kevin Watson started his career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1992 making five appearances for the Premier League side. During his time at Spurs, he was loaned out to three sides, including Barnet FC. Eventually, Watson made the switch to Swindon Town and went on to play for sides such as: Rotherham United, Reading and Colchester United.
His first stint in charge of a football club came at Maldon & Tiptree however, he followed Teddy Sheringham to Stevenage where he took up the assistant manager role. In March 2017, he took up the position at Bishops Stortford as head coach but left at the end of the following season. Once Garry Hill had been dismissed from his position at the Fleet, Kevin Watson filled the position and has so far had a positive impact at the club and will hope to steer his side out of the relegation zone.
One to Watch: Gozie Ugwu
Summer signing Gozie Ugwu has performed excellently during his third spell at Ebbsfleet United having scored seven goals so far this season, with six of them coming under manager Kevin Watson.
Ugwu spent time on loan last season at Boreham Wood before switching to Ebbsfleet United where he impressed manager Garry Hill once more having already worked with him at Woking during the 2016/17 season.
