Match Preview: Carlisle United (H)

EFL League Two

The Hive

Saturday 26th August 2016 – 3pm

Team News: Martin Allen has revealed that there are a couple of injury doubts in the Barnet squad, but is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of Saturday’s clash with Carlisle United. You can read the Bees’ manager’s full pre-match interview here.

Last Time We Met: Barnet’s last meeting with Carlisle was in January 2016. The Bees and the Cumbrians played out a 0-0 draw, on a freezing cold afternoon at The Hive. Check out the report from that match here.

Opposition Form: Carlisle have picked up six points from four games this season – an identical record to Barnet. Keith Curle’s men have drawn with Portsmouth, Cheltenham Town and Cambridge United, as well as beating Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at Brunton Park. They have also enjoyed some success in the EFL Cup; knocking out League One side Port Vale, before losing on penalties at Derby County on Tuesday night.

Dangermen: Jason Kennedy, Charlie Wyke and Reggie Lambe all have two goals apiece so far this campaign. Bermudan international Lambe is perhaps the most exciting of the three players – the 25-year-old midfielder arrived in Carlisle this summer, following a nomadic career that has seen him play for Toronto FC, Nyköpings BIS and Mansfield Town.

Last Time Out: The Blues almost knocked Championship promotion hopefuls Derby County out of the EFL Cup this week. Darren Bent opened the scoring at Pride Park, but the Rams were unable to see out the game – Mike Jones finding the net for Carlisle in the 95th minute. Neither side managed to score again in 30 minutes of extra time, but the Cumbrians were eventually beaten 14-13 on penalties.

Barnet were last in action on Saturday, when they drew 1-1 with Crawley Town after an excellent performance at Broadfield Stadium. You can read the report from that game here, or check out the highlights below:
