HOW IT HAPPENED:
Ben Ward-Cochranes opener for the Scholars wasn’t enough after goals from Josh Walker, Ephron Mason-Clark and Josh Walker sees Barnet move into the next round of the FA Cup where they will face Fleetwood Town at home.
The Bees had a lot of the possession early on in the first half but the Scholars made it difficult for them to be broken down.
The early proceedings were riddled only with half chances, most notably Mason-Clark’s shot from distance that troubled Potters Barn ‘keeper R’Avan Constable, who dropped the ball behind for a corner.
However, Ben Ward-Cochrane’s delightful run saw him run through the Barnet midfield and tucking home a great effort from just outside the box.
The lead did not last long for the away side as Josh Walker equalised for the Bees from a header that ricoched off of the crossbar.
In the second half, Barnet continued as they started, dominating possession which paid off with Mason-Clark putting the Bees into the lead after slotting home into the bottom corner of the net.
With thirty minutes left of the half, goalkeeper Constable brought down Jack Taylor in the area and the referee pointed straight to the spot.
Jack Taylor stood over the penalty spot and calmly put the game to bed after sending the ‘keeper the wrong way.
Some more positive team news for Darren Currie as James Dunne made his return for the Bees and looked lively in his cameo appearance.
TEAM NEWS:
Currie made four changes from Saturday’s fixture with Boucaud, Elito, Tutonda and Mason-Clarke coming in for Adams, Vilhete, Sweeney and the injured Pavey.
