Martin Allen says that he is looking forward to resuming league duties on Saturday, as he takes him team to face Welling at Park View Road.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game, Martin said:
“It is another game and another test. Obviously we have had a difficult and challenging few days in the FA Cup. I think everybody was pleased that the replay was straight after but now the FA Cup is put to bed for a week.
“I saw Welling play very well up at Kidderminster a couple of weeks ago when they were very unlucky not to win. As everybody knows in any professional game, you have got to have the attitude right and be absolutely spot on for this game on Saturday.
“I look forward to watching our team play in every game that we play. They are all different challenges and different tests, and this is another one. This is another game where we are going to be tested; there is no doubt about that. But we have got to overcome these challenges and these tests.”
Martin also revealed his pleasure at a successful opening period to the campaign, and is now setting his sights on ensuring that the Bees continue their excellent run of form that sees them sitting eight points clear at the top of the Vanarama Conference going into the weekend:
“We are going into November on Saturday in a good position in the league. Anybody being offered this position going in November would have taken if of course, everybody would have welcomed it. It has shocked and surprised everybody, myself included.
“The players have been absolutely amazing and I am really looking forward to going back to Welling. It has been a long time since I’ve been there and I think there is going to be quite a big following of Barnet supporters going. I think the momentum is picking up now with the supporters as well. They are starting to believe that things are starting to happen and I think there are
some exciting times ahead.”
“It’s important we look after these players and keep them fresh because they are good players and for this weekend we will have three of our Youth Team players with us. We have got a couple of knocks so we might have to take a couple of our Youth Team players with us with our other lads being out on loan.”
