Kevin Nugent: “We need to take our chances”

Kevin Nugent was pleased with his side’s performance in Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Cambridge United but admitted Barnet must sharpen up in front of goal.
The Bees were stung by Luke Berry’s goal on the counter following a first-half performance which the hosts dominated with a number of good chances.
Nugent’s side had a goal chalked off after 11 minutes but continued to knock on Will Norris’ door without success and were undone in the 65th minute.
"I’m very disappointed with the result but not so much the performance," Nugent said.
"It was a good performance and we should have been in front. We had numerous chances – particularly in the first half – but throughout the game. Their keeper didn’t have a save to make.
"I think the conditions had a big part to play – around the country today it will be the same – sometimes we were slightly naive and our clearances weren’t as good as they should have been.
"But as we game went on we started getting on the ball and we had the best chances in both halves."
Nugent refused to be downbeat following his first loss at Barnet First Team Coach and will be looking for more cutting edge at Blackpool on Tuesday after failing to net from 15 attempts on goal.
"There are a lot of positives to come from this game," he said. "The negative is the result and we need to take our chances as well.
"There was a lot of effort from that team today. They’re so disappointed in that dressing room because they knew they should have done better.
"At this stage of the season it’s about winning games."
