Barnet goalkeeper Jamie Stephens was full of praise for his teammates, in the wake of the Bees’ 2-2 against Accrington Stanley.
Speaking after the game, Jamie said:
“The lads were brilliant and worked really hard to the very end.
“The result shows that we didn’t give up – everyone did their jobs, and put in a great performance.
“It’s obviously nice to come from 2-0 down to get it back to 2-2 in the last minute.
“We’re all in it together; there have been lots of changes but everyone is working for the same goal and trying to do the right things.
“Everyone in this team plays a part, and it was great to get the draw.
“Accrington kept a lot of the possession, as we thought that they would – they’re good at moving the ball around.
“But we showed real fighting spirit to get back into it and get the late goals.
“I’ve been up to Accrington a couple of times before and it’s a hard place to come.
“But I felt that the players all put in a shift.
“We could even have had a couple more chances at the end, we looked really positive.
“It just shows that you should never give up.”
The goalkeeper reflected on his own performance, saying:
“I’m there to make saves – at the end of the day that’s my job.
“The lads in front of me did everything else well, so the credit goes to them today.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Barnet so far – all the players, staff and fans have been brilliant to me.
“I’m just going to keep trying to work hard and enjoy my football.”
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s match against Plymouth Argyle, Jamie said:
“All the games in this league are hard and anyone can beat anyone.
“We’ve got good home form, so hopefully we can produce another good performance like we did against Portsmouth.”
