Henry Newman: “Individual errors led to three of their four goals”

Academy manager Henry Newman blamed individual errors as Barnet’s Under-18s were beaten 4-2 at Northampton Town in the EFL Youth Alliance League on Friday.
With Under-18s coach Dean Selvey still away at St George’s Park on a coaching course, Newman stepped into the breach once more to oversee the side at Northampton.
Goals from Javaan Campbell, slotting through from Roy Syla’s through ball, and Tyler Brown, who nudged home a free-kick to the back post, weren’t enough for the young Bees.
“On some levels it was very positive but the result was very disappointing,” Newman said. “We dominated the game in possession for large periods and were controlled out of possession as well.
“We created a number of chances in the dangerous areas of the pitch we look to create our chances from but, unfortunately, a number of individual errors led to three of their four goals.
“Unfortunately, if you make those errors in games of football you will be get punished and it’s irrelevant how well you play with the ball at your feet if you don’t get things right in relation to that.”
