Luke Gambin was ‘over the moon’ as Barnet secured a 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town in the final floodlit match at Underhill.
Mark Byrne opened the scoring with 25 minutes before Gambin sealed the win in comical circumstances with an hour played.
Speaking post-match the winger stated the importance of starting well and getting the all-important three points.
“I am over the moon to bounce back from two defeats. It was a great win in front of our own fans and the boys put in a really good performance.
“We started well which is something we haven’t done enough and we took that form into the second half.
“Getting the three points was the most important thing and we did that so it was great night.”
Gambin made it 2-0 with 60 minutes played as Scott Davies and Shaun Beeley collided set through on goal unchallenged and smash the ball into the empty net.
“They do not come much easier than that but one thing I have learnt is to always gamble.
“It could have been better but I am always happy with a goal and I will take that along with the three points.”
He continued by hailing the spirit within the team and their strength in depth.
“We have got a lot of team spirit. It does not matter who starts, who is on the bench or who is left out. We always pull through.
“It was a tough game tonight and when you are down the bottom you need that spirit to help you win games.”
The Bees have lost just once at home since Edgar Davids took charge and Gambin hopes to extend the phenomenal run against Cheltenham Town and beyond.
“We have a really good record at home and that is always a good thing, other than New Year’s Day I cant remember the last time we lost at home!
“Hopefully we can keep it up because we have got some massive games coming up at home in the next week or so.
He added: “Touch wood we will go on and win both because we are fully capable of doing so.
“Like all games in this league both matches will be tough but after tonight we will go onwards and upwards.”
