FT: Barnet 1-0 Alfreton Town

FULL TIME: BARNET 1-0 ALFRETON TOWN

16.56 – Peeeeeeep peeeeeeeep! Barnet secure their first points of 2014 with a 1-0 win over Alfreton Town who started the day in third. Dani Lopez got the goal with 40 minutes on the clock smashing a 25-yard effort off the inside of the crossbar.

16.56 – Stoppage in play now as Jack Saville looks to have been knocked out cold.

16.55 – Abdulle and Vilhete come on for Villa and Cadogan. One minute to play…

16.50 – Cadogan is denied his first Barnet goal as Worshop somehow gets a hand to his powerful shot, fantastic stuff from the keeper who keeps his side in it as we enter FIVE minutes added time.

16.49 – Today’s official man of the match chosen by Toshiba Medical Systems is number 30 David Stephens.

16.46 – Harry Crawford comes on to replace goalscorer Dani Lopez. That could be his final mach for the Bees and the crowd show their appreciation for the striker with a standing ovation. Watch this space…

16.43 – No changes for the Bees as yet despite having moved into the final ten minutes of the match. Harry Crawford has just been called back though and he looks like he’s going to enter play…

16.39 – The Bees are continuing to pile forward but luck has not been on their side. Andy Yiadom is the most recent Bee to be denied as his shot is blocked behind for a corner. 10 to play at The Hive.

16.25 – Final change for Alfreton as Law replaces Bradley in he 65th minute.

16.23 – The Bees go within inches of a second again as Mark Byrne pulls a low shot just wide of the post from outside the box.

16.20 – Shaw is on for Meadows in the 59th minute.

16.19 – Barnet should have just taken a 2-0 lead but Jake Hyde is unable to hit the target after going through one on one with the keeper. Luisma Villa sends the forward on his way and he has the time to measure his finish but despite clipping it over Worsnop is rolls just wide.

16.17 – Change for Alfreton as Wishart replaces Wylde in the 56th minute.

16.14 – Superb build-up play from Barnet results in a Mark Byrne shot being saved, it was one touch passing up and across the pitch and Alfreton couldn’t cope.

16.11 – Dani Lopez has been superb today and he is continuing to pull the strings in the second-half. Luisma Villa is also impressing and he almost finds Hyde who would have been through on goal.

16.06 – We’re back underway at The Hive where Barnet lead 1-0 against Alfreton Town.

15.50 – Barnet lead 1-0 at the break thanks to a stunning solo effort from Dani Lopez, the West Stand supporters are chanting ‘sign him up’ and as Paul Fairclough said earlier in the week we will ‘watch this space’… The goal was a rare piece of quality in what hasn’t been in a classic but Edgar Davids’ side would happily accept the same in the second 45 if it leads to their first three points of 2014. Remember to see the Barnet FC YouTube channel later tonight to see Lopez’s opener!

15.47 – HALF TIME: Barnet 1-0 Alfreton Town

15.46 – Half chance at the end of the first-half for Barnet as Mark Byrne shoots well over after Luisma Villa pulled a corner to the edge of the box.

15.45 – Two minutes of added time at The Hive where David Stephens has now returned to the action.

15.43 – Alfreton respond with a corner but its easily cleared by Luisma Villa. Meanwhile David Stephens is on the touchline receiving treatment for what looks like a facial injury.

15.40 – GOAL! Barnet take the lead in stunning fashion as Dani Lopez crashes a 25-yards strike in off the crossbar. The Keeper had no chance.

15.35 – A few Conference sides in action today elsewhere in the Skrill Premier and in the FA Cup. Earlier on Luton Town were held away at Lincoln City, Wrexham are currently drawing 1-1 with Aldershot and Gateshead lead Hyde. The rest of the league games are goalless. In the FA Cup Grimsby Town currently lead Huddersfield Town, Kidderminster vs Peterborough is goalless and Macclesfield trail 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

15.32 – Dani Lopez shoots from range but its easily blocked, Alfreton then try and launch a counter but the ball trickles through to Jupp who eases the pressure.

15.29 – The Bees are still  on top but Alfreton are growing into the game and Akinde looks increasingly dangerous. Daniel Meadows is also starting to get on the ball more for the away side but so far Elliot Johnson has dealt with him superbly.

15.24 – First sign of danger for Barnet as Akinde powers into the box and knocks to defenders out of his way, luckily Jupp is alert and he is able to clear.

15.23 – The Bees win a free-kick in a dangerous area and David Stephens heads it into the mix but the referee  has seen a push and blows up.

15.19 – Barnet’s quick start has been somewhat stopped by the away side who are currently sitting back offering very little going forward. They are proving very hard to break down and the Bees could do with them pushing out a little more.

15.15 – Another chance for the Bees who break with Curtis Weston. He powers into the Alfreton Town half and attempts to find Jake Hyde but the defence clear.

15.03 – Early chance for the Bees who win a free-kick just outside the Alfreton box. Luisma Villa steps up and hammers it over the wall but it crashes just wide. Good early momentum by the Bees.

15.00 – We’re underway at The Hive where David Stephens captains the Bees today.
