Tavares was one of the club’s first additions ahead of the National League title-winning season, where he made 38 appearances and opened his account against Boston United at home.

The defender went on to make 40 appearances during our League Two campaign.

Making the move to the UK from South Africa to pursue his career, Tavares started out in Brentford’s Academy, before moving south of the River Thames to sign his first professional contract with Crystal Palace.

The centre-back left the Eagles and signed for Wealdstone in the National League, where he made 27 appearances, before spending the next two seasons with Dagenham and Redbridge, appearing for the Daggers on 37 occasions.

Tavares has represented Croatia as a youth international.
