Barnet FC are delighted to announce that defender Elliott Johnson has signed a contract extension that will keep him at The Hive until at least June 2017.
The 20-year-old left-back has already made over one hundred appearances for the Bees since breaking into the first-team in 2012/13, and was a virtual ever-present last year after playing 45 times and helping the Bees to lift the Football Conference trophy.
And after putting pen to paper on a two-year extension Elliott says that he is delighted to be staying with the club as they look to climb up the Football League:
“I am chuffed. I think that the club is going in the right direction and I am happy to commit my future to them.
“I think the manager has put his confidence in me and reassured me this year that even after bringing in some new players to improve the squad he is happy for me to keep that left-back position as long as I keep my performances up.”
An Academy product, Elliott first forced his way into first team plans the last time that Barnet were in League Two, and having gone from strength to strength during their two years in the Conference the young full-back says he cannot wait to prove just how far he has come:
“Coming from the Youth Team, having those years in the Conference has definitely toughened me up and got me used to playing the men’s game.
“Off the back of last season and with the new signings that we have brought in we have a lot of confidence and everybody is going to be pushing for the top of the table rather than scrapping at the bottom.
“I have been here for quite a few years now having come through the Youth Team and gotten into the first team and I am happy to be able to keep on playing here.”
