Are you over 50 and looking for a kick-about? Then walking football could be for you!
The Hive Community Trust are running walking football sessions on Friday afternoon’s at The Hive.
Simply head down to the AstroTurf pitches to join in – sessions run from 2-3pm and anyone can take part!
Walking football re-starts again after the Christmas break on Friday 15th January 2016.
Barnet supporter Peter Speroni was at last week’s session, and said:
“It’s great stuff, it really is.
“It’s fun, it’s exercise, and we have a good laugh as well – what more could you want?”
Mike Moate was also in attendance and agreed:
“Im an ex-amateur football player, a rugby player and a qualified referee as well,” he said.
“I decided to come along and play walking football with the boys.
“It’s one of the most fantastic ways to spend an afternoon; it’s fun walking around, you’re keeping fit, and it’s great enjoyment – everyone should come along.”
Sidney Tobias went on to explain a little more about the game, saying:
“Walking football is something that should have been invented many years ago, and it’s a shame that I never thought of it!
“This year I’ve taken it up. I’m 80 and I’ve got a number of different things wrong with me!
“But if you come along then you need slightly different skills to normal football.
“There’s no putting the ball though – you need to play it to a man and you need to find space.
“You never stop and it’s great fun!”
