With a managerial career spanning over four decades, Still returns to the club for a second spell at the Bees and will be looking to guide us back to the EFL at the first attempt.
He has overseen three promotions into the Football League with Dagenham & Redbridge, Maidstone and Luton Town as well as bringing unprecedented success to several non-league outfits.
Winning the Isthmian League with the newly-merged Leytonstone and Ilford in 1982 was one of his first achievements in management, shortly after taking his first job. It was also the club’s first title.
John then won the Southern League with Dartford. After a brief return to Leytonstone and Ilford, he took charge of Maidstone, guiding them to the Conference title and promotion to the League in 1989.
Still, when appointed in 1997, took Barnet into the Division Three play-offs on two occasions.
His third spell at Dagenham began in April 2004 and he led the Daggers into the Football League for the first time two years later, winning the Conference title.
Dagenham would go one better in 2010 as they were promoted to League One under Still’s tutelage following play-off success over Rotherham at Wembley Stadium.
He took over the reins at Kenilworth Road in 2013 and in his first full season he won the Conference title, ending the Hatters 5-year exile from the Football League.
Chairman Tony Kleanthous has said about the appointment:
“After the debacle of last season, I decided that we needed someone who would bring stability and experience to the football management side of the club.
“The more we researched who would be the best candidate, the more the same name kept coming back.
“John knows the division better than any other manager and has won promotion from this division more times than any other manager.
“His remit is to run the football side from top to bottom and I am pleased to welcome him here and to once again work with him.”
Everyone at The Hive London would like to welcome John back to the club and encourage all our fans to get behind him and his side next season!
