Club Statement

Barnet Football Club wish to address supporters’ concerns in light of several recent transfers to Eastleigh.
Sam Togwell and Gavin Hoyte yesterday (Thursday) joined the Vanarama National League outfit, following Martin Allen, James Russell and Bondz N’Gala.
The Club saw the opportunity to sell these players as good business and in line with the current strategy and plans for the future team squad.
Chairman Tony Kleanthous said: “Some fans may have misunderstood our intentions going forward.
“This is not a fire sale by any means. We have been very focussed on building the facilities at The Hive for a few years and what we have now is an international class facility that every supporter can be proud of.
“We now need to start work on building the Club so we are as good on the field as we have become off the field. This means a younger and more vibrant squad.
“Martin did a good job getting us promoted and stabilising the Club. His departure is not a problem at all and neither is the departure of the players who have left to join him, they all leave with our best wishes.
“We now begin the next chapter of Barnet FC and I believe this will be one of the most exciting in our history.
“We have a transfer kitty available for players, although this does not necessarily mean you will see transfer fees.
“Our coaches are great at what they do, our marketing and promotions will improve, our crowds will increase and over the next 12 to 18 months you will see changes in our playing style and recruitment policy as we start to put together the ingredients needed for promotion.
“Nothing is easy in this game so I make no short-term promises but keep the faith, get behind the club and, along the way, we will give you lots to sing about.
“Come on you Bees, wishing you all a great Christmas and New Year.”
