Clough is raring to go ahead of his first full season at The Hive – and told barnetfc.com: “I want promotion. That’s what Rossi (Eames) wants as well as the rest of the lads.
“We have got a good team here. Especially if we make a few signings which will help strengthen the squad, we’ll have enough to be up there this season.”
The 26-year-old has enjoyed his break this summer but can’t wait to get started once again.
“We’re lucky to have five or six weeks off where you get to go away, but you get bored!” he said. “I’m bored now and I want to be back playing football.
“Saturdays just aren’t the same without a game and I’m really looking forward to coming back but I’m not looking forward to the running!”
Clough joined the club back in January from Forest Green Rovers after making 83 appearances for the Gloucestershire club.
He is looking forward to heading back to the New Lawn for the first time on the opening day of the new season, but hopes his knowledge of Forest Green can spoil their party.
“I had a few texts from players and staff that are there,” Clough added. “Hopefully we can go there and get a win because anything less would be disappointing.
“The way they play has changed from the first year I was there. Now they’re a good footballing team but there are weaknesses there we can exploit.
“Obviously Rossi will have been watching them as well and we can see where we can go from there.”
