New signing Charlie Clough insists he won’t be resting on his laurels after returning to the EFL by joining Barnet, promising to kick on again following his move from Forest Green Rovers.
The 26-year-old becomes Barnet’s sixth January addition after completing his move to The Hive London for an undisclosed fee.
Rovers are second in the Vanarama National League but Clough joins Barnet a time when the Bees are only outside of the League Two play-offs on goal difference.
Speaking for the first time following his move, Clough said: “I appreciate everything that’s happened at Forest Green and we had a successful year last year where we missed out in the Play-Off Final and we’ve had a good season this season.
“But league football at my age was perfect. So to come here and give it a good crack. I’m coming here to kick on again.”
The last three days have been something of a whirlwind for the Taunton-born centre-back who drove up from Gloucestershire this morning to put the finishing touches to the deal.
“I only found out about it all on Saturday after the game,” Clough revealed. “I came up this morning and left early. I’m happy to get it completed and to now be a Barnet player.
“What was said by Rossi and Henry showed they’ve got massive ambition and the Chairman has massive ambition too.
“They showed me the way they want to play football and one of my strengths is playing football. They sold it well and it’s league football, which is what I’ve been working towards.”
