Barnet FC can confirm that the club will not be offering Mark Byrne a new contract.
The 25-year-old joined the club in 2011 and has made over 100 appearances in black and amber.
Speaking to barnetfc.com, head-coach Martin Allen praised Byrne’s contribution whilst wishing him the best of luck for the future.
“On Friday I had a chat with Mark and I have decided that we are not in a position to offer him a new contract.
“Mark has been a fantastic asset to this football club, he is a great lad and as a person he is a diamond.
Allen continued: “It was a very difficult decision for me and I wish him the very best of luck in the future as I sure all Barnet supporters do.
The head-coach also revealed that the club are hoping to finalise deals as soon as possible to get The Hive buzzing again.
“Of course at this time of the year there is much speculation, ifs and buts and rumours but we will make no comment on any potential signings and talks until they are confirmed.
“I hope to conclude a number of deals ASAP to get this place buzzing again.”
