BFC LADIES HIT COLCHESTER FOR SIX

Barnet FC Ladies gave their season a kick-start by hitting Colchester United for six at Underhill today.  The Bees got their FA Women’s Premier League Cup campaign off to a winning start against the Essex side with Vicky Boardman, Jenny Kikomeko and Cheryl Williams each scoring twice in a 6-0 win.
After a disappointing start to the League campaign, which has seen the Bees suffer defeats at the hands of Manchester City and Sunderland, it was a relief for Barnet FC Ladies Manager Tracey Kevins to see her side record its first win of the season.
“Our season really started today”, said Kevins. “We have had to play two very difficult league matches with a number of players missing.  However, today we were able to field a full squad and produced some excellent football.”
The first round of the League Cup is played on a group basis.  In addition to Colchester United, the Bees will have to play against Watford, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur with the top two teams progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Barnet will be hoping to carry forward the form they showed against Colchester United in their next FA Women’s Premier League fixture away to Cardiff City next weekend.
The Bees next home fixture is the local derby against Watford on Sunday 16 September at Underhill (kick-off 2pm).
