Ben Tomlinson signs for the Bees!

Barnet FC are delighted to announce the latest new arrival to The Hive in 25-year-old attacker Ben Tomlinson, who has signed for the club on a two-year deal.

Tomlinson joins the Bees after being released by Lincoln City, where he scored 32 goals for the Imps during two seasons at Sincil Bank including two against the Bees during their two seasons back in the Conference.

His other previous clubs include Alfreton Town – where he scored 11 goals during the 2012/13 campaign – and a season with Macclesfield Town in League Two.

Commenting on his move to Barnet, Ben said that he was delighted to be back in the Football League and sees no reason why the Bees cannot continue their upwards momentum from last season:

“I am delighted. They are a really good club and hopefully Martin can take us in the right direction and we will have a good season next season. There is not much between the two leagues so hopefully we will be right up there next season.

“I played against them a couple of times last season and think I played well in both of those games to be fair – although that might be blowing my own trumpet a little bit!

“Hopefully I stood out a little bit and I’m pleased to have got it sorted and I’m looking forward to getting back into the Football League with Barnet. I can’t wait.”

Meanwhile, in discussing his new signing Martin Allen revealed exactly what it was that caught his eye and convinced him to bring Ben to the club:

“Ben is a player that I have tracked for a while. He can play on the left side of midfield or up front. He is a very good athlete and has a very good goal-scoring ratio. He is confident, he has self-belief and I quite like him.

“He got a free transfer from Lincoln City and we are giving him his chance in the Football League. He has got something to prove and we are going to help him do it.”
