Barnet ran out 3-2 winners at Boreham Wood in their last pre-season scheduled friendly before the campaign starts in earnest when the Bees visit Birmingham City on 14th August.
In a keenly contested match, where full-blooded tackles were the norm, Barnet went one goal down when Charlie O’Loughlin headed past Liam O’Brien from a corner with almost 15 minutes on the clock. And you couldn’t say it was against the run of play.
Barnet gradually forced their way back into the match and it was no great surprise when with half-time looming Clovis Kamdjo equalised when he bundled the ball over the line from close range.
However the Bees would go in at half-time 2-1 down when the home side’s lanky striker Inih Effiong steered his header expertly up and over O’Brien.
The Bees were brighter in the second half with two well crafted goals from Andy Yiadom who finished well after making the chances for himself by aggressively taking the ball at the Wood defence. Yiadom had started the match in the right wing position; but by the end was appearing as a right-back.
Plus points were that Ricky Holmes was able to start after being injured in the game at St Albans and Jordan Brown continues to impress with his consistency of performance.
