BEES EXIT CUP AFTER WARE DEFEAT

Barnet were knocked out of the Herts Senior Cup by Ware FC who now progress to the 3rd Round of the competition. Ware took an early lead and went onto win the tie by a 2-1 scoreline.
Barnet fielded a youthful team although the side was sprinkled with players who had experience of league football.
Luke Gambin was back in action after being recalled from Ryman Premier outfit Hendon and it was hoped that the likes of Jordan Brown, Anthony Edgar, captain Ahmed Abdulla and Brighton loanee George Barker would help see the Bees into the third round.
However it took only four minutes for the deadlock to be broken when Ware’s Spencer Knight capitalised on a defensive error.
Tyler Christian-Law then came close to doubling Ware’s lead shortly before the ten minute mark but was denied by Barnet goalkeeper Sam Cowler.
It wasn’t until the 20th minute that the Bees started to build up some real attacking momentum highlighted when teenager Barker came close on twenty eight minutes.
With half-time approaching Iffy Allen and Anthony Edgar had opportunities to level the scores but again the home defence repelled the danger.
It was only seconds after the restart when Allen equalised with an effort from just outside the box; however, the joy was only short-lived as Ware captain Jon Stevenson restored the home side’s lead within a minute.
Barker was to come close again but his shot was palmed clear by the Ware keeper Rhys Madden and within five minutes he was called upon again to save from the lively Allen.
The Bees pushed for an equaliser and were unlucky not to score in the dying moments when George Barker rattled the woodwork.
