Bees complete signing of Jordan Thomas

Barnet Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of former Norwich City right back, Jordan Thomas. The exciting young defender joins the Club on an initial two-year contract.

Thomas makes the move to North London from newly-promoted Premier League side Norwich City, where he spent three years within the Canaries prestigious youth and development squads. The Greenwich born defender signed his first professional deal at Carrow Road aged 18 years.

The 20-year-old grabbed a taste of senior Premier League football during his time with the Canaries, making his senior debut in a fixture against Manchester City in July 2020. The full-back also spent some time on loan at League Two Leyton Orient last season, the young defender will now look to prove himself and gain regular senior appearances at his new Club under the management of Harry Kewell.

Whilst at Carrow Road, Thomas has been a regular in Norwich City’s Under-23s and played several matches in the Premier League ‘2’, as well as featuring in the EFL Trophy against senior EFL Clubs.

Prior to moving to Norwich City, Thomas spent time as a youth product at both Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town, where he firstly spent five years as a scholar at The Valley, before making the move to the Terriers where he spent two years as an academy scholar.

The exciting young right-back will immediately join up with his new teammates at the beginning of pre-season and he can’t wait to get going at The Hive London, he said:

“I am over the moon, I had a great chat with the gaffer and Dean, it cemented the idea that I wanted to take the next step of my career here. This is a great Club to be at and a great opportunity for me, so I am delighted.

“I’ve learnt so much and developed so much as a player (at Norwich), that experience at the top level has made me hungry to want to play and fulfil my potential back home in London.”

Everyone is delighted to welcome Jordan to the Club and we wish him well during his time at The Hive London. The deal is subject to the relevant football regulatory approvals.
