Bees agree Sweeney deal

Barnet Football Club are delighted to announce we have agreed an undisclosed fee with Maidstone United for Dan Sweeney who has agreed personal terms to join the Bees tomorrow.
The 22-year-old, who is an England ‘C’ international, is one of the most exciting prospects outside of the EFL and will move to The Hive London ahead of the January transfer window.
Sweeney has scored twice in 18 starts for the Vanarama National League side this season after moving to the Gallagher Stadium from Kingstonian last season.
The 6ft 3in midfielder, who has previously played for AFC Wimbledon and Dulwich Hamlet, has made 44 league appearances for Maidstone in a year with the club.
In June Sweeney’s fine form for the Kent side was recognised in the form of an England ‘C’ call-up from former Bees boss Paul Fairclough.
The creative midfielder subsequently made his debut in a 4-3 defeat to Slovakia.
Speaking after completing the signing of Sweeney, interim head coach Rossi Eames said: "Dan brings a level of maturity into central midfield with great positional awareness in and out of possession.
"We are signing Dan at a great age and he is part of our building for the future, adding to this excellent set of players we already have."
Assistant manager Henry Newman added: "Dan is someone Rossi and I have long admired and someone we have had our eyes on since we came into this job.
"We have watched him a number of times and he is an exciting, technically gifted player who is comfortable in possession.
"We have always maintained we are looking to make improvements and lower the average age of the squad and Barnet fans can expect to see more signings in the coming weeks as we look to improve the group."
Sweeney will join the Bees for first-team training but will not be eligible for either of our remaining games in 2016. He will be available to Rossi Eames for the game against Plymouth Argyle on January 2.
Everyone at Barnet Football Club would like to welcome Dan to The Hive.
