A goal from Zyon Francis gave Barnet’s Under-18s the perfect start to 2017 as they beat Luton Town 1-0 at The Hive London on Tuesday afternoon.
Victory means the Bees, who are now under the stewardship of Jake Littlejohn, who has taken over from Dean Selvey who is currently looking after the Under-21s.
"It was a great performance," said Littlejohn. "We had a lot of chances but did not get in behind enough and were playing more in front of them and not breaking enough lines.
"We came out in the second half and some great through balls from Theo Alexis who really picked up and started spraying the ball about.
"What we’ve been working on in training is getting it out wide, getting the full-backs overlapping and getting the ball into the box.
"We had a few chances but Zyon got on the end of one and put it in the back of the next which was pleasing to see.
"On another day we could probably have had a few more; we had a few scrambles off the line and a few wild shots from the edge of the box too.
"In the second half we pushed on and put them under a lot of pressure. We should have pushed on and go some more."
