A huge game at The Hive at the weekend sees 8th placed Barnet take on 5th placed Halifax. Win and, if other results go their way, Barnet could sneak into the last play off spot with three games to go.
Barnet have played two and won two at The Hive since Martin Allen’s return and the two remaining home games against Halifax and fellow play off chasers Braintree will surely be crucial in determining which four teams battle it out for a game at Wembley and a place in the football league.
Take each game as it comes, so the cliché goes, and Barnet must focus all their attentions on getting the three points on Saturday.
Halifax are a formidable team who beat champions elect Luton Town only a few weeks ago and have won six of their last seven games. But after their recent home form Barnet will go into the game with no little confidence.
Luton could win the league on Saturday and I think most fans would agree they are worthy champions of the division this year.
Our games against them were both a bit out of the ordinary, the away game being played in conditions more suitable for swimming than football and the home game we only had ten players on the pitch for much of the game but were actually the superior side after going a man down.
They have been ahead of the pack for many months and it would be great if they could win the league at Kenilworth Road on Saturday whilst also doing the Bees a favour by beating Braintree Town.
No doubt over the Easter period there will be many twists and turns in the race for the play offs, but let’s just concentrate on the next game for now and try to get another three points at home.
It won’t be easy, but with our fantastic home support and the players, fans and manager giving their all it should be a great game at the top of the Skrill Premier.
