Barnet Blog #30

After a disappointing couple of results at The Hive the Bees are back on the road again and travel up to Kidderminster on Saturday.  It seemed like a big win in November when Luisma Villa’s solitary goal saw off the then second placed Kidderminster Harriers.
Fast forward to March and both teams are still battling for a play-off spot – Barnet are now the team further up the table but Kiddie are only 3 points behind with a game in hand. There seem to be an awful lots of "six pointers" come the final 10 games of the season, with pundits and fans alike liberally using the description, but this game is probably one of them… Graham Stack has spoken about the importance of the game and rightly said that Barnet needed to get back to winning ways and how a win at Aggborough would be the perfect place to start.
Much might be made about the fact that Barnet will be missing their match winner from that November win at the Hive and also their top scorer Jake Hyde, but really in the last two games Barnet’s problems have stemmed from a leaky defence rather than problems up front.
Conceding four goals in two home games unfortunately tells its own story and the priority for the Bees, away from home, should first and foremost be not to concede.  Attacking wise Charlie Adams, who looked impressive in his five games for us, has been recalled by parent club Brentford, but Luke Gamin is returning to fitness and Barnet should certainly have a big enough squad to be able to cope with such absences and injuries.
Uli has even said he may dip into the loan market again to bolster the squad further. But for now, as many players have said before, Barnet have a perfectly good enough squad to compete at this level and can certainly beat anyone in this league on their day if they play to their full potential. As Stacky said, three points in the West Midlands would be a great time to get that belief going again… Hope to see you at Aggborough!
