Barnet have moved up to 6th in the Skrill Premier after a hard fought draw against Welling United took our unbeaten run in the league to 7 games.  The defence will be pleased with yet another clean sheet whilst it was unfortunate that some slick passing moves through the midfield (in truth a lot more pleasing on the eye than Welling’s set-piece focused approach) failed to produce the goal that would have allowed Barnet to sneak the win.  

What a shame it was that Keanu Marsh-Brown, who the Welling fans I spoke to said had tormented the Wings’ defence all game at Park View Road in October, was absent for this one.  Whilst this was neither a spectacular game nor the victory that Bees fans had hoped for,  Barnet are undeniably making steady progress up the table, now just one place and a single point from a play off position.

If the Welling game on Tuesday was a rather low key affair, surely it will be a different story when the BT Sports cameras roll in to The Hive on Saturday for the clash with table topping Cambridge United.  Having already dispatched Kidderminster and Salisbury at The Hive (who both occupy play off positions as things stand) there is no reason why Barnet cannot do the same to the Us on Saturday.  

The hope will be that both sides go into the match wanting to play entertaining football, rather than some sides who have come to The Hive and "parked the bus" in search of a draw.  It should be an excellent advertisement for non-league football.  Win and Barnet could go into the play off places, will have beaten two sides in the top three places in the league, and can go into the crucial December fixtures with every confidence.

As Autumn turns to winter Barnet seem to be a lot steadier at the back and with KMB due to return soon from suspension and Jake Hyde nearing a return to full fitness, we will surely be a side to be reckoned with in this division once we have returned to having a fully fit squad.  

Barnet players should be relishing the chance to test themselves against a side top of the league in front of the TV cameras.  The Bees vs the Us at The Hive at five (thirty).  Come on you Bees!
