Vanarama are delighted to announce that the winner of the Vanarama Conference Player of the Month award for December is John Akinde of Barnet.
Barnet are currently 6 points clear at the top of the Vanarama Conference and John has had a major part to play in this, scoring 21 goals in the league this season.
On the announcement of the award John said, “I am really pleased, it is a good achievement. It was good to get the goals but most importantly we got a few wins over the Christmas period which was good for the team.”
“It is my job to come in and play well and it is always good to score goals, but I couldn’t score them without my teammates who keep on providing them for me.”
“Now it is important that we keep that record up until the end of the season by getting some more wins under our belt and get to where we want to be, which is achieving promotion.”
The official awards panel said, “John has been instrumental in stretching the Bees lead at the top of the table and strengthening their grip over the chasing pack. During December he recorded his third hat trick of the season with the victory over Aldershot and also scored the equaliser against Dover Athletic as the Bees came back from 2-0 down to take a point. John is now well ahead in the scoring charts in the Vanarama Conference with a massive 21 goals in the Vanarama Conference.”
Congratulations John Akinde of Barnet on winning this award and we wish him all the best for the rest of the season.
