ACCRINGTON 3-2 BARNET – Match Report

A poor first-half performance from Barnet saw them slip to a 3-2 defeat against Accrington Stanley on Saturday.

John Oster and Jake Hyde both returned to the starting line-up but a first half hat-trick from Lee Molyneux have the home side an unassailable lead.

Elliot Johnson pulled one back for the Bees on the stroke of half-time before Ross Jenkins scored a fantastic overhead kick but the home side hung on for the win.

Edgar Davids was also sent off with five minutes to play – his second red card of the season, the first coming in the reverse fixture.

With just eight minutes played the hosts went in front as Molyneux fired the ball past Graham Stack from just outside the box.

The Bees responded well with Chiro N’Toko seeing his shot saved.

However, with 25 minutes played Accrington went 2-0 up as Molyneux smashed in his second from 25-yards.

Eight minutes later the home side added a third as Molyneux converted from the spot after a N’Toko foul on Francis Jeffers.

Just seconds before the break Johnson gave Barnet hope when he volleyed home his first goal for the club from a Jake Hyde flick on.

Barnet improved after the break and they were rewarded with 27 minutes to play when Jenkins scored a sensational overhead kick.

The Bees continued to push for an equaliser but any hopes of a comeback ended with five minutes to play as Davids was sent off for a second yellow card.
