Alan Devonshire is the manager of Maidenhead United after joining from Braintree Town in May 2015. It is his second spell in charge as he had a stint here between 1996-2003.
Devonshire featured in nearly 450 professional games in midfield, most of them alongside Sir Trevor Brooking for West Ham United between 1976-1990.
The 65-year-old has eight England caps to his name and also managed at Hampton & Richmond Borough.
BRIEF DIRECTIONS BY ROAD
To get to Maidenhead leave the M4 at Junction 8 and take the A404(M). At the end of the A404(M), take the A4 (Bath Road) towards Maidenhead.
On reaching the town centre you will come to a large roundabout. Bear left (the 2nd exit) continuing on the A4.
Go straight across the first roundabout and at the second, turn right into Forlease Road and then second right into York Road. These directions courtesy of MUFC.
BRIEF DIRECTION BY TRAIN
Maidenhead Station is a five minute walk from the ground and is served by trains from London Paddington. A “fast train” will take around 30 minutes to get there.
CAR PARKING
Car parking at the ground is strictly limited to the players and officials. There are numerous other parking facilities in the town centre which are within walking distance of the stadium.
EAT AND DRINK
Stripes Bar is the social club facility at the ground and we will all be made welcome.
The Conservative Club adjacent to the stadium is also open and should be accepting away supporters.
GROUND DESCRIPTION
The ground first opened in 1871 is now officially recognised by the FA as the ‘oldest senior football ground continuously used by the same club.’
The Railway Stand was built in 2014 and is the focal point of the stadium – holding 550 seats.
There is covered terracing behind both goals and there will be no segregation in place for the fixture.
Bees fans will be able to enter the stadium via the York Road Entrance or Bell Street Entrance.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS AND MEMORIES
The Bees had a memorable 4-1 win here in December 2019 thanks to goals from Simeon Akinola (2), Cheye Alexander and David Tutonda.
