“The Barnet Walking Football Team were proud and humbled to have been shortlisted for the “Impact in the Community“ at the London Sport Awards.
In just 4 years, we have come such a long way as a group, supporting our community, fundraising for Mind Harrow, Dementia Club Barnet, Age UK Harrow and Alzheimer’s UK.
We were chosen to represent Walking Football and launch the FA Mental Health awareness campaign with Prince William and Gareth Southgate. Spending the day filming and then to be invited as a thank you to attend the Community Shield.
At the Guildhall, we were sitting with large organisations such as Chelsea FC Foundation and West Ham United FC Foundation, Richmond Rugby Club, HSBC and UBS banks, Invictus games soldiers. Our success would not be possible without the wonderful community support we receive from Barnet Chairman Mr Kleanthous and Matt Dixon of the Hive Foundation. We also thank Andreas for our pitch bookings, Daniel Martin for his help on the day and Alex for his advice around our fundraising events and finally both Adam Rowe and Adam Fowler for their amazing social media support.”
Everyone at The Hive London would like to congratulate all of the Walking Football Team for their fantastic achievements both on and off the pitch. Keep up the great work!
