Rhys is well known to both manager Peter Beadle and Assistant Coach Steve Jenkins, as the trio worked together at Hereford.
Evans enjoyed a long playing career, after coming through the ranks at Chelsea as a youth product, he went on to make almost 300 appearances in senior football. He featured for Swindon Town over 100 occasions and also played for the likes of QPR, Blackpool and Southend United.
The 38-year-old also featured for his country at under-21 level on one occasion, after his career in between the sticks he joined up with Beadle and Jenkins at Hereford United.
Evans will now work with First Team goalkeepers Scott Loach and Aymen Azaze throughout the 2020/21 campaign.
