Match Preview: Dagenham and Redbridge (A)

FIXTURE DETAILS:

Dagenham and Redbridge vs Barnet FC

Tuesday, October 6th 2020, 19:45 KO

Chigwell Construction Stadium

Vanarama National League – Matchday 2

THE DAGGERS:

Form: L

Last match: FC Halifax Town 2-0 Dagenham and Redbridge

Manager: Daryl McMahon

Captain: Kenny Clark

The Daggers lost out in their first league match of the season, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to FC Halifax Town at The Shay Stadium. McMahon’s side conceded a goal either side of half-time, as Summerfield first converted a penalty on the stroke of the break before Earing sealed the points for the Shaymen with a second-half strike.

After a 17th placed finish last season, the Daggers have invested heavily in the summer making several signings in the build-up to the new campaign. This includes three former Bees in Paul McCallum, Elliot Johnson and Callum Reynolds who all made the switch from North to East London this summer following the end of their contracts with the Bees. Elsewhere they acquired former Dartford striker Darren McQueen and former Aldershot midfielder Dean Rance as part of their nine new signings to date. On the other hand, tonight’s hosts have also seen several faces leave the Club since the end of last season, with no fewer than 12 departing ahead of the new campaign.

With so much investment over the summer period, there will be a weight of expectation on the Daggers to be right up there this season, it makes for an intriguing encounter this evening.

THE BEES:

The Bees must show a response following Saturday’s opening day disappointment to Eastleigh. It’ll be a tough clash against a new look Dagenham side, but boss Peter Beadle will be expecting a reaction from his side in East London this evening. Defensive mistakes cost the Bees dearly on Saturday afternoon, but the boys must now put that behind them and look to react with a stronger showing in tonight’s London derby.

In similar fashion to other sides in the division, there has been a large overhaul of players at The Hive London, with Peter Beadle’s side needing to gel quickly with the shorter pre-season we have had. However, the boss is keen to not use that as an excuse and demanded his side ensure they right the wrongs from Saturday afternoon. In Ephron Mason-Clark, JJ Hooper and co, the Bees have attacking threat amongst a talented group of players and they’ll be hoping to show that in this evening’s clash with Dagenham.

 WHAT’S BEEN SAID:

Peter Beadle – speaking post-Eastleigh about reacting tonight.

There’s only one group of people who can put this right now and that is us as a group. The team have got to go out on Tuesday and show people that they have every right to have faith in them, which I have and I am sure the supporters will when they see the better side of them.”

LAST TIME WE MET:
