The encounter was slow to kick into gear, the first clear chance coming a quarter of an hour in when Roarie Deacon had a goal-bound effort cleared off the line by Callum Reynolds.
Half an hour in, Medy Elito’s powerful shot stung the gloves of the Sutton keeper who palmed it into the path of Shaq Coulthirst who could only find the side netting.
Sutton countered this with a neat move from Gime Toure who first beat Dan Sweeney and then Will Huffer before seeing his shot cannon against the bar.
After the break, Craig Robson had a shot blocked from a corner before a major let off for the Bees.
Elliott Johnson gave the ball away inside the opposition half allowing Craig Eastmond a clear 60 yard run at goal. He had all the time in the world to pick his spot but his effort was palmed around the post by Will Huffer playing his final game for the club.
Kenny Davis had time and space on the edge of the box but spooned his effort over the bar.
Wes Fonguck dribbled his way into a shooting position in the 70th minute but his eventual effort was off target.
In the final minute of stoppage time, the Bees had a great chance to pick up all three points when Coulthirst got on the end of a good cross from Elito but headed into the side netting under pressure from two Sutton defenders.
