The Young Bees put in a good showing at The Hive London, as two goals from Okem Chime before an own goal and a Finlay Titchmarsh strike sealed the victory on a chilly evening. 

The Bees created plenty more chances too and Senda was thrilled to see his side come away with yet another victory on home soil. 

“First half we started exactly how we wanted to, with high intensity, as we did against Camberley in the last round. We were really pleased with the first-half performance.”

“We created lots of chances and took our chances throughout. This is three wins in a row and the effort has been outstanding which is key. I felt tonight to a man that the effort was outstanding out there on top of the technical ability.”  

Senda’s side attacked well throughout the game, but he was keen to emphasise how pleased he was with the defensive aspect of the performance from his side. 

The Bees limited the Wanderers to minimal chances throughout the game and that we key to the victory yesterday evening. 

“The other side of the game is massively important, I thought defensively we were outstanding, that created a platform for our creative players”

“Ben Tompkins is 15 years old and playing at under 18 level, he was immense tonight. In the academy, we put emphasis on being defensively solid and outside of a superb strike from their player, I thought we were excellent tonight.”

The visitors were reduced to eight players at the end of the game and Senda was quick to praise the application and attitude of his players throughout the game.

“There attitude makes the whole academy proud, a lot of my staff have worked with the boys for a long time. We have got such a high percentage of academy players in our first team, so we need to champion that.” 

“Football isn’t always about the tactical side of things, it’s the manner of how they approach the games, as we’re trying to make good young men at this Club.”

The young Bees will now take on Southend United or Cambridge United in the second round proper, once again at The Hive. 

Senda is looking forward to the challenge that either team will bring to his young group of players. 

“There will be a few more eyes on us, so it’s all about now whether we can play under a tiny bit more pressure in the next round”

“It’s going to be a massive task, we have been beaten by both sides, but on the flip side we are on a great run right now and we will not fear anyone.”

“We will of course respect whoever our opponent is but we will go into the game and expect to win it.”
