Jordan Roberts shot just wide of goalkeeper Craig Ross’ left-hand post four minutes in during a frantic and physical opening few minutes.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce had an excellent opportunity for Barnet 18 minutes in, but he hit his half volley into the ground and it bounced over the crossbar.
Crawley keeper Glenn Morris came to the rescue of his defence when John Akinde broke through but couldn’t get the ball from out of his feet quick enough.
Lewis Young then missed a free header at the far post before Morris made a wonderful save to deny Jack Taylor’s goal bound effort from 25 yards out.
After the break, Akinde had a low effort from the edge of the box saved by Morris.
Crawley took the lead in the 76th minute. Roberts flicked a header into the path of Boldewijn who cut inside and fired high into the top left corner.
Boldewijn doubled his tally and Crawley’s lead in the 87th minute, putting the game beyond doubt. Young played him through before the Dutchman calmly dispatched.
