Transfer | Byron Harrison signs for Barnet FC

The 31-year-old brings with him a wealth of experience and goals at this level and above.

The 6’3″ frontman was most recently on loan at Sutton United, where he helped them into the end of season play-offs.

Prior to this, a year and a half spell at Barrow saw him make 56 appearances scoring 27 goals.

His career started at Havant and Waterlooville, before moves to Worthing, Boreham Wood, Harrow Borough and Carshalton. It was at the latter where his 19 goals in 37 games caught the attention of Stevenage. He would join them in January 2011 and score important goals that would help the club to League Two play-off success.

Time at AFC Wimbledon, where he became their record signing, Cheltenham Town and Chesterfield would follow before a loan move back to Stevenage.

Manager John Still has made it clear that Harrison was a big target for him.

“Bryon Harrison I have known for a long time. He’s always been a goalscorer. When the situation with John (Akinde) was going on, we highlighted two or three people and Byron was top of our list.

“I think he needs little introduction because he’s known a lot around this level for being a goalscorer so he’s ideal for us.”

Harrison was pleased to hear he was top of the manager’s list.

“I’m very happy to get it over the line, I’m looking forward to playing here. It’s the first time I’ve been to The Hive and it’s impressive.

“Every player wants to be wanted, especially strikers. You want to feel like your manager has got full faith in you and that’s how you work at your best.

“I know what the pressures will be, I’ll be expected to lead the line in a team that will be looking to push to get back into the Football League. I’ll be hoping to score goals to help Barnet push on.”

Welcome to Barnet, Byron!
