January signing Dan Sweeney says his move to Barnet came out of the blue but he is looking forward to showing Bees fans what he can do.
The 23-year-old midfielder made his EFL debut in last Monday’s 1-0 win over Plymouth Argyle at The Hive.
That capped a rapid ascent for the 6ft 4in midfielder who was at Ryman Isthmian Premier Division side Dulwich Hamlet only last year.
“It has happened quite quickly,” Sweeney said. “I was there at Dulwich Hamlet last year, went to the National League South with Maidstone, won that, and went into the National League.
“Now I’m in League Two. It has happened quickly but I’m dealing with it as it comes and trying to play to the best of my abilities.”
Sweeney was the first of Barnet’s four signings this window, linking up with Rossi Eames and Henry Newman’s squad just before Christmas.
“It’s been great and all of the lads have been really welcoming towards me. The facilities here are great as well and I’m really enjoying it,” he said.
“It’s been really enjoyable and came out of the blue. I was at Maidstone on Monday and Tuesday before signing and then Thursday I was here.
“It’s happened really quickly but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to get cracking.”
