Rossi Eames: “The secret is mentality”

Rossi Eames says the secret of Barnet’s bouncebackability this season has been their mentality as the Bees look to get back to winning ways against Newport County on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
The Bees have only been beaten seven times in EFL League Two this season and on every occasion bar one they have picked up a result in their next game.
That is a record Eames and Henry Newman will hope to continue on Saturday at The Hive London as bottom-of-the-league Newport visit.
“The secret is mentality,” Eames said. “The group is very good psychologically; they have got high standards, work hard and train at a good intensity.
“After every game, whether it’s been a win or a loss, it’s back on your jobs and responsibilities and learn from it.”
Newport had lost eight on the spin before picking up a potentially priceless point with a 1-1 draw against Colchester United last weekend.
The Exiles, managed by former Bee Graham Westley, present a different challenge to last weekend’s visitors – Doncaster Rovers – who arrived at The Hive top of the pile.
And Newman fully expects another bitter contest for the points against a side who have already made nine additions in the January transfer window and are in the market for more.
“Rarely you will come up against opposition in League Two who aren’t fighting for their lives; whether than be to try to get promotion or to stave off any relegation fears,” said Newman. “And, not least, with the number of new signings they’ve made will have freshened up their camp dramatically.
“It’s very much us focusing on our game rather than worrying about them because there’s been talk in the media this week about more potential new signings who may come straight into the team as well.”
