Kevin Nugent: We have to be more ruthless

Kevin Nugent has warned Barnet cannot afford to be profligate in front of goal again as the Bees head to Blackpool looking to close the gap on the EFL League Two play-off places.
After Portsmouth left The Hive London with a point the weekend before last by scoring with their solitary shot on target, Cambridge United snatched victory after coming under the cosh on Saturday.
Now Nugent is looking for his side to punish the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday evening by showing a more ruthless streak in front of goal.
Previewing his side’s trip to Lancashire after training on Monday, the Bees First Team Coach said: "They were bright today and I spoke to them and said: ‘This can’t happen again; you can’t have that much possession and that many chances and not take something from the game.
"I would have been disappointed with a draw so to lose it was even more disappointing. Over the last two games we’ve conceded two chances and it’s cost us points. We should have been looking at a minimum of four points over those two games – possibly six – and we’ve ended up with one."
Barnet are just five points shy of the play-off spots but Blackpool, in 15th, are only two points behind the Bees – a gap Nugent is keen to enhance in the hunt for the top seven.
"It will be a tough game and I’m not trying to repeat myself in these interviews," he said. "But, on any given day, anyone can beat anyone. It’s going to be a tough game; it’s not a great pitch but they are a decent side.
"Similar to Cambridge there’s only a few points between us and we want to make that gap bigger.
"They have got some good players and play with a couple of shapes as well so we will be aware of all those situations."
