“In football you get an opportunity to put things right quickly. We’re trying not to dwell on things too much.”
Letting the lead slip in the final moments against Yeovil meant another two points escaped the Bees in their push for a playoff spot.
“Everyone was gutted. It definitely felt like a defeat coming off the pitch – being in a leading position with only a couple of minutes to go.”
But Tom is confident the team can still end the season strong, with a lot of positives to take from the last few games.
“We’re looking on to Sunday to bounce back straight away and get three points.”
And Tom assured fans that the team know the areas where they need to improve.
“Our game management let us down again on Wednesday. We’re sick of saying we deserved to win games.”
“It’s been frustrating for everybody and we’ve got to take responsibility for that.”
Tom highlighted how Kevin Nugent’s post game analysis has helped put the squad in the right mindset for Sunday.
“We have to try and get three points on Sunday. The Gaffer sat us down and highlighted the areas we need to improve on, but at the same time put a positive spin on it.”
“Everyone’s excited for another game, for three points and to get that winning feeling back again.”
Notts County will provide another stern test for the Bees and Champion is fully award of that.
“It’ll be a tough game. They’re a strong team with some good individual players. We’re in for a testing afternoon. We need a resilient performance away from home and a clean sheet.”
“Hopefully we can nick a win.”
